Description

This is a classic example of a cast iron Danforth-style or lightweight anchor, likely for a small to medium-sized recreational boat like a yacht or launch, dating possibly to the mid-20th century. The design features a pivoting stock that allows the two broad, pointed flukes to bury themselves deep into the seabed, making it highly effective on mud or sand bottoms. The construction is solid cast iron, showing a robust design with a significant wear and age patina. The shackle hole at the top of the shank is clearly visible. The overall condition is good, showing heavy oxidation, rust pitting, and areas of paint loss consistent with prolonged use in a marine environment and age. The pivoting mechanism is functional .
