October Fall Classic
Lot 1129d:
Description
Highly desirable piece of Texan breweriana. This is a vintage Lone Star Beer illuminated advertising clock, likely dating from the 1960s or 1970s. The sign features the classic Lone Star “star” logo, the iconic slogan “makes the most of nature’s best”, and a functional electric clock face. The case is constructed of painted metal in a light blue/grey hammered finish, housing the fluorescent illumination and a standard clock movement, which the rear label identifies as being manufactured by the Hanover Neon Clock Company. Hanover was a prominent maker of electrified advertising clocks, and this elongated, rectangular design with the offset round clock face is a classic style for the era. The plastic face is a creamy white/off-white color, which enhances the illumination when lit. The item is in Very Good vintage condition. The clock face is clear and readable, and the hands are intact. The back of the metal case shows a manufacturing label and the original electrical cord. Clock works and lights up when plugged in. The painted metal casing shows minimal scuffs and marks consistent with a piece that was likely hanging in a bar or tavern for decades. No major dents or structural damage. H 18″, W 27″, D 6″.
