October Fall Classic
Lot 1100:
Description
This is a fantastic industrial-style artistic conversion that marries a classic Art Deco-era cinema or theater exit globe with a fully articulated, multi-jointed lamp arm, likely sourced from an antique medical or factory light. The head features a round, heavy cast metal frame (appears to be brass or bronze with a deep, naturally oxidized patina) holding a milk-glass or frosted lens with the word “EXIT” clearly embossed in a strong, period-correct typeface. The lens exhibits excellent light transmission, seen beautifully when illuminated in a striking red glow, suggesting the interior has been fitted with a modern red LED or incandescent bulb. The articulating arm is constructed from chromed or nickel-plated steel and aluminum and features spring-loaded joints, allowing for a wide range of adjustment, from a compact desk lamp configuration to an extended, wall-mounted fixture (wall mounting bracket is included). The assembly is hardwired with a modern, twisted red cloth-covered cord terminating in a contemporary plug, indicating professional re-wiring. The item presents in good aesthetic condition, retaining a wonderful industrial patina on the metal arm with typical scuffs, scratches, and slight oxidation consistent with age and use. The exit sign lens and bezel are intact with no visible cracks or major chips. Lights up brightly! The articulation joints appear to function smoothly. H 45″, W 8.5″, D 7″ See photos.
