Description
Two original boxes of World War II .45 ACP M1911 Pistol Ball ammunition, manufactured at the Evansville Ordnance Plant. These are the steel case cartridges developed during the war to conserve copper for other vital military uses. Each box originally contained 50 cartridges; the headstamps clearly show “ECS 43,” indicating production in 1943. One box is full and the second box contains 20 rounds. The cardboard boxes show age-related wear, including staining and edge fraying, but the labeling remains dark and legible. The cartridges themselves show some oxidation, typical of 80-year-old steel-cased munitions. Overall, they are in good condition for their age and would be a great addition to any World War II gun condition or display. Each Box: L 5″, H 1.5″, D 2.5″
