Description
WWII A-2 Flying Tiger Flight Jacket
This is an exceptional example of a WWII-era Type A-2 flight jacket, manufactured by the renowned Aero Leather Clothing Co. of Beacon, N.Y., under contract number 42-15142-P. Constructed of dark brown horsehide, this piece features a period-correct Talon zipper and original knits. Most notably, the reverse displays a stunning multi-piece leather "Blood Chit" featuring the Republic of China flag and Chinese characters—a hallmark of the China-Burma-India (CBI) theater. Further enhancing its rarity, the right shoulder features a theater-made, multi-piece leather CBI shoulder patch. The leather shows significant age-related cracking and heavy surface wear consistent with active service; the wool cuffs and waistband exhibit heavy fraying and moth damage, and the interior lining shows significant tearing. Across chest measures 20” armpit to armpit. Size 40 tag on inside both pocket. H 25", W 20", D 2". Please see photos.
