Description
This genuine, WWII-era German paratrooper (Fallschirmjäger) Type I LGK gravity knife made between 1937-1943,features the sought-after maker’s mark of Paul Weyersberg & Co., Solingen. It has a wood-scaled handle and a stainless steel marlin spike at the base. Marked “97” on the thumb lever and “390” on the inside of the handle. Included is a Free French Forces insignia pin featuring the Cross of Lorraine and the iconic “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité” motto, suggesting a fascinating connection to the European theater of operations. The blade shows signs of sharpening and surface oxidation, the wooden scales have some light bruising and wear consistent with field use, and the gravity mechanism shows typical mechanical aging. The pin has a darkened patina and slight bending to the rear fastener. Knife: H 6.25″, W 1.75″, D 1″. Please see photos.
