Description
WWII US Navy Mark 7 Bomb Hoist in Crate W/Bonus Cold War Ord Plans.
This is a remarkable piece of WWII-era aviation ordnance equipment: a US Navy Mark 7 Mod 1 Bomb Hoist manufactured by the Sullivan Machinery Co. of Claremont, NH. These manual hand-cranked hoists were essential deck and hangar equipment, used to lift heavy munitions into aircraft bays. The unit features its original battleship grey finish, a robust steel cable, and cast housing with clear part numbers (300175-1, 300177-2). It remains housed in its original heavy-duty wooden shipping crate, which is stenciled with the contract number "NORD 3319" and destination "Mechanicsburg for Storage." This is a fantastic find for a military technophile or a Navy aviation collector. The hoist appears to be in well-preserved, functional condition with some surface oxidation on the unpainted metal components and common age-related wear to the wooden crate; the internal protective wrapping for the cable is still present but shows heavy staining and brittleness. Hoist crate: H 14, L 53", D 14". Also included are circa 1961 Army Ordnance Corps Blueprints. This fascinating collection of Cold War-era military engineering documents includes several rolled and flat blueprints from the Department of the Army, specifically the Rossford Ordnance Depot in Toledo, Ohio. One prominent sheet, dated April 28, 1961, details a "Nozzle Spray Chamber" for the Ordnance Corps (Drawing No. 11020449). These technical drawings represent the high-precision drafting of the mid-20th century, utilizing heavy-weight paper and classic architectural line work typical of military industrial design during the early 1960s. The lot features a mix of larger rolled assemblies and smaller detailed sheets. Overall, the documents show age-appropriate wear, including yellowing, edge fraying, some creasing from being stored rolled, and minor surface smudges, though the technical details remain crisp and legible. L 45” and 8” and 18” (multiple rolls, multiple sizes).
