Description
Pair of WWII German 20L Jerry Cans
These are two exceptional examples of the iconic Wehrmacht-Einheitskanister, a design so superior it was reverse-engineered by the Allies during the war. On the right, we have a 1943 Wasser (Water) can finished in a late-war olive green, clearly embossed with "Wasser 20L", the maker "Brose & Co.", and "Wehrmacht". On the left is a 1943 Kraftstoff (Fuel) can featuring the characteristic "Feuergefährlich" (flammable) warning and fuel-specific markings. Both cans feature the classic three-handle system designed for easy carry by one or two soldiers and the cam-lock lids that revolutionized field refueling. The Wasser can retains a significant amount of its green finish with minor surface scuffs and small spots of oxidation. The Kraftstoff can shows more heavy "battle-worn" character, with extensive surface rust, pitting, and faded paint, though the stamped markings remain legible. Both appear structurally sound with no major punctures visible. H 18.5", W 13.5", D 6.5".
