Description
U.S. Military Model 1913 Cavalry Saber. This saber is the last model of cavalry saber issued by the U.S. Army and is known as the “Patton” saber because it was designed by General George Patton when he was a cavalry officer before World War I. This saber is the enlisted model as it has the blackened metal finish on the handle and green scabbard. Blade is marked L.F.&C. (Landers, Frary & Clark) and is dated 1918. Ordnance bomb is poorly struck but present. Blade has heavy finish loss and rust frosting, but no dings in edges or point. Hilt has hole drilled in side of handguard from being mounted on wall at some point and has extensive surface frosting and a few rust spots. Scabbard has green over-paint on tan webbing and metal which is flaking off, and some minor surface rust and corrosion. Sword is an overall good example of WWI US cavalry equipment. See photos.
