Description
A historically significant grouping of aviation ephemera signed by Captain Elbert Scott McCuskey, a celebrated WWII US Navy Ace credited with 14 aerial victories. The collection comprises seven large numbered prints and one postcard-sized print, all featuring detailed illustrations of F4F Wildcats and Hellcats, each hand-signed and extensively annotated by McCuskey. The inscriptions provide rich combat details, referencing his service with VF-42 and VF-3 aboard the USS Yorktown during the Battle of Midway, and later with VF-8 on the USS Bunker Hill. Included are two correspondence postcards, one dated 1999, addressed to “John,” offering intimate provenance and insight into the veteran’s later years.
