The John Bannister Collection - D-Day and Militaria
Lot 1134:
Description
Phenomenal grouping of five hand-signed aviation art cards, a true piece of history for any military or aviation collector. Each card features a detailed black-and-white sketch of a significant WWII-era aircraft and bears the authentic signature of a pilot associated with that specific plane, all on postcard-weight cardstock. The collection includes the iconic B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-29 Superfortress “Enola Gay” signed by Paul W. Tibbets (Pilot), a second B-29 signed by Capt. C. R. Carberry (“Bockscar” Navigator), a P-51 Mustang signed by C.E. “Bud” Anderson (Yeager’s wingman), and a P-51 Mustang signed by Chuck Yeager. The condition of the set is excellent, with sharp corners and no visible creases, tears, or fading to the cardstock or the ink; the signatures are clear and bold. Each measures H 4″, W 6″.
