The John Bannister Collection - D-Day and Militaria
Lot 1112:
Description
This appears to be a rough copy of an M1 carbine, and is tagged as VC workshop made. This is said to be a one shot rifle and they are very rare. Although it may look like toy, it could have been a lethal weapon in close combat. It was made to copy the looks of an M1 carbine, including an attempt to copy a bayonet lug – it even has a cut-out in the stock for a sling. The barrel looks to be too large for a 30 cal. bullet, but looks like it would accommodate a shot gun shell by the looks of the barrel. The mag is removable, but has no spring for loading & the bolt is spring loaded, so it may be capable of firing. We do not suggest loading or firing this gun & see it as a crude Viet Cong made souvenir of the Viet Nam War.
There is little or no chance of finding another & would look good in a “NAM” collection.
