Description
Officer “Ike” jacket for Glider pilot, I Troop Carrier Command. Jacket dated Nov. 1942 and Size 42 R on quartermaster tag inside chest inner pocket. US and Army Air Force lapel insignia w/double clutch back fasteners (one of the AAF insignia has sterling marked fasteners). Shoulder straps have Captains rank-cloth. Distinctive Unit insignia for I Troop Carrier Command on shoulder straps. Double clutch fasteners. Matched pair marked “ Le Velle and Co Washington DC Philadelphia Sterling “ Embroidered wool Glider Pilots wings. Upper ribbon bar: Distinguished Flying Cross; Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart Medal. Lower ribbon bar: Air Medal; European-African Middle Eastern Campaign w/ silver star and bronze arrowhead; World War II Victory Medal. Fourragere on left shoulder. Left shoulder sleeve “I Troop Carrier Command” insignia. Left sleeve cuff has 4 service stripes. Waist belt has some loss of material at the tip. Only markings are what looks to be initial with number stitched crudely in dark thread at interior of waist enclosure. Dimensions: 20 in wide x 24 in tall. Please see photos for condition.
