Guns, Ammo, and Militaria Auction
Lot 2003:
This World War II German motorcycle helmet was re-purposed by Scott Severson for stock car racing in the 1950s. The helmet is made of molded, smooth, blackened leather with raised, padded, protective bars running horizontally around the helmet’s bottom edge, and another one running from front to back over the crown top. It features the later mesh vents. The helmet is painted white over the original leather surface. Cracking and paint loss suggests its age and use. NSKK helmets were used primarily by motorcycle couriers and drivers. The leather earflaps are pliable and retains all of its hardware. Stamped, ink “56” back of interior cranial straps. Dimensions: 9.5” x 8” x 17”. See photos.
