Here is a unique set of Civil War time period buttons [original and modern repro], Limber numbers, and sash buckle from the 5th Virginia Infantry. 1) The buttons [11 total] are flat, plain on the exterior, stamped “Best Quality” on reverse, Diameter varies from 16mm to 20mm. 2) Modern manufacture uniform buttons, Federal Eagle. Four large and 5 small. Waterbury Button Co. CONN. 3) Small uniform button [field artillery] and lead numerals 1, 8, 8, [each 2″ tall x 1-1/4″ wide] that would have been mounted on a limber box. According to consigner, “dug near Gettysburg” 4) Identified as a”Civil War Sash Buckle” this piece is stamped 5TH INF and VA. Brass with attached chain [36″ long]. 5) Peculiar object. Stamped lion head with three modern bead chains tethering it to a stamped shield with Federal eagle in center. Unsure of what it is for. 6) Freed slave Union drummer boy doll, Ceramic head, hands, boots, drum and cap 14″ tall.
