Description
1865 dated late war canteen is maker marked on the spout “J.C. Johnson: over “FEB.5.65”. The white painted writing on cover appears to be touched up by hand. Brown wool cover has no holes, rips or repairs. Cloth shoulder strap in in solid condition. The cork on the stopper is complete and not even cracked. Over all condition is very good, showing age and wear. From the David Hopper collection.
