During the course of the Civil War, the Confederacy imported between 300,000 and 400,000 guns from England, with the Pattern 1853 Enfield being the most common rifle muskets used by the typical Confederate Infantryman. There was only a small percentage of those imported arms were marked for use by the Confederates, and although there is no way to confirm, examples such as these here, could have been used by the South, in that great Civil War.
