Description

A pair of Civil War era child-sized boots from an old time collection. It was reported to be from a Union drummer boy, but we have no documentation. From heel to toe, they are 9″ long and they stand 10″ tall. They have two leather pulls on each boot and the heel and sole are held in place with small steel oval and square headed nails. They have some surface white mold and the top both have some damage especially the left boot. They are stuffed with 1979 LA Times newspapers. One main point to consider is since the size is for a relatively small window in a child’s foot size, they show a tremendous amount of wear and use which would make sense for the hard marching for the short time a drummer boy would have worn them. This type of Civil War footwear is rarely seen.
