Description
An early Kepi for officer rank. It has matching Union buttons. Chinstrap has is very stiff but lays in place well. the bullion bugle is in very fine shape with light aging and no fraying. The visor is flat and has crazing on outside and little crazing on bottom has “fish scale” pattern. Right side of visor end is broken away from stitching. The body show wear and age with sporadic peppering of moth holes and some moth tracks especially on the top. Lining show wear and age. Brown leather sweatband has some breaks. Blue clothe lining is in excellent shape. Kepi white color shows age, soil spots and fading. Included is book page tear out of period photo of Rhode Island Zourve holding his white kepi. The overall condition is good. There are some opinions this kepi dates after the Civil War and is being offered as post war. Never the less, it is RARE.
