Description
Collection of dug uniform buttons from Otterville, MO at Lamine Crossing. During the Civil War, Lamine crossing was a location where the railroad crossed the river, just east of Otterville. The railroad and bridge were of strategic importance for Union forces and in 1861 Union soldiers dug trenches to protect the bridge. Nicely arranged on a golden background in a light wood frame, this grouping contains 62 buttons in all. 55 are domed national eagle design with “I” for Infantry and federal shield for General Service in center. 7 are not rimmed and are flat. 35 measure between .74″ and .77″ diameter. 20 measure .56″ diameter. 3 measure .54″ diameter and 4 measure .82″ diameter.
