Large framed oil on canvas under glass of a stag elk in the mountains (after Monarch of the Glen) advertisement for OFC Whiskey. Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. established the O.F.C. (Old Fire Copper) Distillery in 1869-1870 on the banks of the Kentucky River outside of Frankfort. He was known for his innovative distilling technologies and fermentation techniques. George T. Stagg purchased the O.F.C. Distillery in 1878 and later renamed it the George T. Stagg Distillery in 1904. This painting dates from circa 1900. In overall excellent condition. The painting is under glass and shows no signs of damage, touch up, or deterioration. It is signed Tweed Rau Co. Chicago in the lower right hand corner. The image size is 47″ tall, 35″ wide. The wood frame is of multi later construction with original gold finish is in excellent original condition. It measures 64″ tall, 52″ wide, 4.5″ deep. We seldom see these large scale advertisements in this fine of condition. If you need a focal piece for your saloon or above a fireplace, don’t miss this one.
