He allegedly received many items directly from Michael Jordan including lot #1003
an early Jordan autographed official Chicago Bulls basketball which was just sent in and was authenticated by JSA with an autograph grade of 8. The inscription "To Betty"; Betty is the wife of the painter. The ball is also a official Spalding basketball with David Stern as the commissioner; ball dates to the 1989-90 season. The Steve Kerr warm up suit lot 1144 featured in this auction is from this same collection to add prominence. Essentially the shoes were left with a note stating they were from used from game 7 of the 1989-1990 Eastern Conference Finals from the original owners. This series becomes instrumental in Chicago History because after the Bulls crushing defeat; Jordan decided to give baseball a shot. Great for the White Sox but terrible for the Bulls. The infamous Jordan return "IM BACK" and then continue to win another three consecutively and the rest is history. Resolution Photomatching essentially says they we unable to conclusively conclude this pair was from Game 7 because the images of the shoes worn on Game 7 were not clear enough and state in their opinion there is a "Possible" photomatch after listing similarities and discrepancies. Resolution Photomatching states "However the marks on the shoe in subject photo of Jordan are not clear enough to guarantee that they are the exact same unique size & shape, and therefore there was not enough evidence for us to determine a conclusive photomatch to this image". They go on to state they feel the most significant image they "found" was from game 4 where they list multiple similarities however because the shoe in the subject photo were not clear enough. "We have made the determination of a probable photomatch between the shoes in this source photo an the shoes pictured above." They go on to additionally state "show possible and probable photomatches" (referring to the shoes from the 1990 Eastern Conference Finals). Shoes are in good overall condition with age and wear including dry rotten areas on the soles. Please REFERENCE PHOTOS FOR CONDITION. Loa was written on April 17th 2018.
