This 11″ (XI) shell is the smoothbore artillery projectile and was known to be the type of shell used on the USS Monitor and river gunboats. it is well over 120-150 lb. It is drilled for the Navy wet fuze per collector notes. This shell appears to be a very old ground dug or just some flaking and rust pitting above ground. It was a real barn find 40 years ago.
