Guns & Militaria
Lot 2424:
Description
This is pair of US Navy marked 1920s French Binoculars “Lemaire Fabt Paris” marked on eyes pieces. They are named to Admiral Robert Lee Dennison (1901-1980). They are engraved “Robert Dennison” over “Waterbury, Conn” on one side and “U.S. Navy” over 4382. The optics are clear and the exterior shows much age and wear with saltwater corrosion. The saltwater corrosion has aused a small split to one of the binoculars lens barrels..This does not affect the overall operation of the binoculars. Dennison had a long and distinguished career. He was on the Battleship USS Arkansas and the S-Class Submarine S-8 in the 1920s. He was in Fleet Command prior to WWII and later planned the successful Attu assault in Aleutians. After the war, he was known for preparing the Cuban Missile Crisis possible invasion on Cuba. Very interesting and historical US Navy optics. Comes with modern 2 page printed biography,
