Description
This is very typical German made for the American civil War and may be pre-Civil War era. It Has a doubled etched blade with blued panel. The etching is of military drum, flag and bugle and floral pattern and still has some of the gold inlay. Base of spine has small vine pattern with trace gold color. The bluing is very worn but the panel shape and border lines are present. Tip is sharp and blade has very old edge sharpening with no nicks. Brass crossguard is loose and leather wrapped handle is solid and wire twist over the leather is broken and is only on 20% of handle. Leather blade washer is present. Brass scabbard has steel drag and one dent on mid way. 32″ blade and 38.5″ overall
