Cylindrical can shaped smoke hand grenade. TypeDesignator/Model: No. 3
Cal./Size: 2 ?-inches in diameter and 5 ¾-inches high
Color: Yellow with black markings
Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson Chemical Company, Inc.
Country of Origin: United States. This is a functioned grenade. The sheet metal body has no base, but otherwise is in good shape considering it is an early model grenade. There are four foil covered emission holes on the top of the body. Evidently the grenade was functioned with the base removed because the hole covers are original. Marked on the top of the fuze safety handle is “1 SEC”. Markings on the
grenade are “No. 3; WHITE SMOKE HC; MILITARY TYPE; GRENADE; CONTINUOUS DISCHARGE; the
company data and logo; and a yellow paper label with discharge warning and first aid data”. The grenade was manufactured in 1980.
