Description

This is one of the best WWII GI “Bring Back” groups we have ever seen. These two boxes were shipped back to Chicago, Illinois by US Army soldier Charles J. Pycha. The TWO “bring back” groups were shipped at different times and each has their original shipping address and contents list. The large box contains the following 1) German DAK M40 tan camouflage helmet. It has full liner and unmarked chinstrap and is marked on inside EF64 on side and back 1647.The liner was removed at the time of the spray tan painting. The inside of dome is rusted and still has crabapple green. Helmet shows wear and age. 2) Italian M33 helmet with leather liner and full Olive Green paint and liner is size 55 marked. Shows age and wear. 3-5) Three Italian bayonets (one converted to fighting knife) 6) olive green Italian ammo pouch. 7) Very well worn “Africakorps” cuff title, 8) Italian Army officer yellow backed bullion eagle 9) German Jager patch and over 25 Africa and Mediterranean issues of “Stars & Straps” newspapers from May 1943 to April 1944. Also two pieces of shrapnel. The large box this all came in well marked US Quartermaster apricot box with officer markings. The smaller box 2 contains the following and doesn’t quite match the contents shipping list: 1) “Arab knife” 2) one ring 3-4) two bracelets 5-6) two ash trays 7-8) one Arab wallet and one Arab cigarette case and clear plexiglass small Arab sword. This is great intact grouping with all sorts of provenance and verification. This all came from the veteran’s nephew to this auction. Look for the veteran’s size 8D double buckle boots in this auction.
