Guns & Militaria
Lot 1118:
VERY RARE!! (Less than 3000 made) Roth Sauer 7.65X13 Pistol. An extremely rare and nearly impossible to find , Roth-Sauer Semi Automatic Pistol. This pistol was manufactured in 1905 and is the predecessor of the 1907 Roth-Steyr Pistol. This series of pistols was designed by Hungarian Karel Krnka and his financial partner Georg Roth. This model was put into production by J.P. Sauer & Sohn of Suhl, Germany, hence the name Roth-Sauer. The Pistol is chambered in the 7.65 Roth-Sauer Cartridge, which is a slightly shortened .32 auto. These pistols are elaborately designed and built, certainly over-engineered and overly complex for their purpose. They did enjoy some commercial success, as they were in use during WW1 and were also used by German Police agencies, including the Colonial Police Force of German South-West Africa. If you collect the very early Semi-Auto Pistols, this is one of the most desirable to own . An impressive work of early 20th century industrial art and engineering. C&R Eligible S/N:A827
