Additional Description: This never published or publicly seen image was taken by photojournalist Phillip Sarno at Ebbets Field in October of 1952, just before a Brooklyn Dodger vs. New York Yankee World Series game. Sarno captured this iconic moment, as Jackie Robinson invited a group of Little Leaguer’s onto the field for a photograph, during batting practice. Jerome Holtzman – Official Historian of Major League Baseball once stated, “That Sarno photograph is as close to an artwork by Norman Rockwell, as I’ve ever seen ! Simply incredible !”. Only two copies like this Sarno image have ever been produced. The other was sent to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York.
