Hand-Carved Wooden Folk Art -Bat Masterson, a legendary real-life American Old West lawman, gunfighter, army scout, and sports journalist, famous sheriff in Dodge City, KS and hung out with his close friend Wyatt Earp, he survived the Wild West, moved to NYC and became a prominent sharp-witted sports editor, artist carved “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, the texture work on the clothing and boots strongly mimics the “feather texturing” techniques used by wildlife carvers to give wooden birds a realistic look before paint is applied, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 12″ x 6 1/2″
