Hand-Carved Wooden Folk Art – John Wesley Hardin, notorious American Old West outlaw, gunfighter and folk icon, he claimed to have killed 42 men, though official records confirm around 26, famously shot and killed a man in a hotel room simply for snoring too loud, artist carved “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, the texture work on the clothing and boots strongly mimics the “feather texturing” techniques used by wildlife carvers to give wooden birds a realistic look before paint is applied, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 11″ x 6 1/2″
