Lot 252b:
Description
This comprehensive vintage photography lot features a mid-century Burke & James (B&J) 4×5 Press Camera, a staple for professional photojournalists of the era. Manufactured in Chicago, Illinois, the camera features a rugged black body with a Kalart Synchronized Range Finder and a classic folding viewing hood. The set is housed in a period-correct, textured tan “tweed-style” carrying case manufactured by Barnett & Jaffe of Philadelphia, PA. Included in this expansive professional kit are several Riteway 4×5 film holders, a Busch 4×5 film pack adapter, a General Electric (GE) light meter in its original leather case, a flash reflector with corresponding handle, a tripod, a shutter cable release, and various Kodak lens component tins. The equipment shows honest wear consistent with professional use, including some scuffing on the camera body, minor fraying and oxidation on the case hardware, and aging to the instruction manuals; the bellows appear intact but have not been light-tested. H 12″, W 17″, D 11.5″ Please see photos for condition.
