Antique Wrought Iron Pull-Chain Door Bell, the owner of this magnificent item believes it to be a Samuel Yellin-style piece from a home in Riverside, Illinois, Yellin was an American master blacksmith and metal designer (1884-1940), no visible maker’s mark, hand-forged wrought iron frame featuring intricate scrollwork, a fleur-de-lis top, twisted support columns and an engraved bottom tailpiece, heavy bell metal produces a clear, resonant ringing tone, pull chain connects to a pivoting bracket, when pulled from below, the lever engages the figural ringer (a monk, pilgrim or friar) to strike the bell, full three-dimensional jointed figure, another highly sought-after design element is the dragon head terminus beneath the bell assembly, wall-mounted, this highly stylized architectural piece places it at the top tier of collectibility for antique mechanical entry bells, good condition, see photos. 22″ x 7 1/2″ x 10″
