Description
Anheuser-Busch “Custer’s Last Fight” Ad Sign, one of the most famous pieces of American breweriana advertising, the original painting was created by Cassilly Adams in 1884 which was lost in a fire, F. Otto Becker created a modified version for Anheuser-Busch in 1896, Adolphus Busch distributed lithograph prints of it to thousands of bars and saloons across the United States. It dramatically illustrates General George Armstrong Custer’s final stand against Native American warriors at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Custer is in the center waving a saber, image of his medals on bottom left, color lithograph printed on cardboard shows some visible discoloration and age-related wear to the frame, small nail holes in corners and on sides, round hole in the treeline, minor scratches, appears that it may have been varnished in the past, fair to good condition, see photos. 45″ x 34 1/2″ A great piece of saloon/bar history.
