Description

This specialized reference lot features five essential books covering the dawn of recorded sound and the history of early talking machines. The collection includes Allen Koenigsberg’s comb-bound The Patent History of the Phonograph 1877–1912 (Limited Bi-Centennial Edition published by APM Press in Brooklyn, NY); Robert W. Baumbach’s definitive Look for the Dog: An Illustrated Guide to Victor Talking Machines (Stationery X-Press); and John Paul Kurdyla Jr.’s When Music Was Magic: History, Phonographs and Gramophones from 1879 to 1939, featuring a personal inscription and signature from the author to Allen Koenigsberg on the title page. Rounding out the lot are two works by E.R. Fenimore Johnson: His Master’s Voice in America (Second Edition, 1975), complete with an original 1991 GE Aerospace presentation letter to former employees, and His Master’s Voice Was Eldridge R. Johnson: A Biography. This clean collection shows minor external shelf wear, light edge toning, and minor scuffs to the covers, but remains in very good, highly legible condition with tight bindings. H 4.75″, W 11.5″, D 9.5″. See photos for condition.
