The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3531:
Description
Lot is for 4 boxes of microfilm on reels of the publication Talking Machine World. The Talking Machine World was the preeminent monthly trade magazine for the phonograph, gramophone, and early sound recording industries. Published in New York City from 1905 to 1928 and averaging 100-200 pages, it served as the core resource for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers navigating the rapidly growing audio market. In the 1960’s & 70’s libraries and institutions put most of their publications on microfilm making it easy for researchers to access. These films are of the earlier issues 1905 to about 1910. Before the advent of computers and the internet, it was very time consuming to research an article. These films were used by Allen for some of his published articles. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
