Description

An iconic early-20th-century advertising counter display featuring “Nipper,” the legendary fox terrier mix made famous by RCA Victor’s “His Master’s Voice” campaign. This rare, authentic figure is expertly molded in hollow papier-mâché, likely mactured by the Old King Cole Papier Mache Company of Canton, Ohio. It features Nipper’s trademark cocked head, dark painted ears, and a molded collar with painted rivet details. The figure boasts a completely original, painted surface displaying an aged patina. Physically stable, the piece shows condition wear consistent with fragile antique papier-mâché, including a prominent hairline fracture across the upper left front leg, a shallow surface flake on the rear left hip exposing the white primer beneath, and typical rough wear with minor loss around the edge of the open, hollow base. H 11.5″, W 8.5″, D 6″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
