Description

This exceptional collection of 19th-century photography is purported to come from the legendary studio of Camillus “Buck” Fly in Tombstone, Arizona Territory. The lot includes two high-quality cabinet cards and three tintypes, featuring handwritten identifications for individuals such as “Judge Williams” and “C. Dixon, Sheriff Behan’s Deputy.” While the cabinet cards bear the “Camillus Fly Studio” backstamp, all identifications and studio attributions are based on period markings; it is the primary responsibility of the buyer to judge the historical accuracy and provenance of these claims for themselves. These pieces represent rare artifacts of the Old West, appearing to document the citizens and lawmen of a frontier boomtown during the era of the O.K. Corral. The items show age-appropriate wear, including minor foxing, corner dings, and surface oxidation on the tintypes, though the subjects remain clear and well-preserved.
