Description

This exceptional Weimar-era German three-barrel “Drilling” combination gun is a magnificent example of traditional European sporting craft, featuring 26.75″ side-by-side shotgun barrels, chambered in 16 gauge, over a lower rifle barrel chambered in 7x57mm. The flats and water table reveal a treasure trove of historical proof marks, including the Imperial-style Eagle, Crown over “N” (Nitro proof), Crown over “U” (Untersuchung/inspection), and Crown over “G” (for rifled barrels shooting a single projectile). A crisp “4.23” date stamp directly under the barrel flats confirms its production in April 1923, alongside the rifle specification “St. m. G.” (Stahlmantelgeschoss / steel-jacketed bullet) over 14.6gr. The barrels feature the iconic “FLUSS – STAHL / KRUPP ESSEN” trademark, while the scalloped receiver is beautifully hand-engraved with deep game-scene relief panels depicting a stag and a roe deer amid floral scrollwork. The finely figured walnut stock includes a traditional cheekpiece, checkered grip, an ornate horn trigger guard extension, and a tang safety marked “SCHROT” (shot). The firearm remains in highly attractive condition, displaying strong barrel bluing with minimal thinning, crisp engraving details, a bright water table, and clean markings, with only minor handling scuffs on the wood and barrels. Mechanically, the action and trigger are tight and appear to function properly. This is a gorgeous piece and worthy of any collection. Please see photos for overall condition.
