The iconic “Mae West” visible gas pump was originally manufactured by the Guarantee Liquid Measure Co., also known as Fry, in the 1920s,This is the Model 117 (10-gallon). It has an older restoration done in Sinclair colors with a plexiglass cylinder, repro Sinclair globe, repro cast aluminum pump lever, and original brass Buckeye nozzle. It has a brass tag for the Rush Mfg. Co. of Lafayette Indiana marked FRY. The Rush connection is that In the early 1930s, new regulations required visible gas pumps used for retail to have standard-sized cylinders. Since the Fry company had gone out of business, other manufacturers like Rush and Wayne created conversion parts to update the remaining inventory of unfinished or existing Fry pumps.
