Description
This Mills bow front Violano-Virtuoso, often simply called the "Bow Front, " is an exceptionally rare and ornate version of the self-playing violin and piano machine manufactured by the Mills Novelty Company in Chicago during the early 20th century. Unlike standard models, the Bow Front features a distinctively curved cabinet front. While there are 21 bow front machines known, only 4 have the bowed back with the other 17 having square back cabinets, This machine is serial number 63 and has a quarter sawn oak cabinet which has been professionally refinished. Front glass is beveled, side glasses curved. The mechanism has been totally restored and has recently been serviced by Terry Haughawout. It accepts coins and plays beautifully. Comes with 5 music rolls. There is not a finer Violano in existence. From the Sanfilippo Place De La Musique collection
