Coin Op & Advertising - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 3
Lot 2162:
Description
This is a distinctive vintage road bicycle, showcasing the high-quality craftsmanship associated with Austrian manufacturing during the mid-to-late 20th century, a period when Austrian factories produced durable, reliable machines often marketed through major retailers like Sears, Roebuck & Co. The bike is built around a robust, utilitarian frame featuring a comfortable, upright geometry. Notable technical details include the West German-made Weinmann “Symetric” center-pull brakes and a period-correct Xundah rear derailleur. It is exceptionally well-equipped for its era, retaining its original cargo rack and vintage metal horn, while sporting an updated CyclePro Mentor-8 digital computer. The frame bears authentic historical character through its Elmhurst and Palatine, Illinois municipal license decals. The condition is consistent with a well-maintained vintage bicycle; while there is some expected cosmetic paint wear, light surface oxidation on some chrome hardware, and a charming overall patina, the mechanical components are functional and it is currently outfitted with reliable, modern Continental Ride Tour tires. H 48″, W 25″, D 69″. S/N 5290192. Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/ Transport required. Contacts available post auction.
