Description
Vintage Maritime Ship’s Binnacle, Sestrel model produced by Henry Browne & Son, protective housing designed to hold a ship’s magnetic compass, keeping it gimbaled and level despite the ship’s motion, two iron spheres on either side, side canisters on top piece were designed to hold oil lamps or candles to illuminate the compass card for nighttime navigation, age-appropriate wear, glass is cracked and chipped, see photos.
