Description
These striking decorative accents are housed in a vintage cardboard Schlitz beer case measuring 16″ x 12″ x 10″. This case, which historically held 12-32 oz. bottles and was produced by the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company in Milwaukee, WI, is a fascinating piece of breweriana. It has been repurposed to store these vintage cast painted plaster mermaid figures, which were likely salvaged from a musical calliope or similar fairground organ. Finished in a metallic gold paint—these mermaids feature an elegant, stylized design typical of mid-20th-century decorative art. Regarding condition, the figures show signs of age, including areas of paint loss, surface scuffs, and chips consistent with vintage plaster; notably, each piece features pre-drilled mounting holes that have been previously repaired or plugged. The Schlitz case shows typical wear, edge softening, and handwritten inventory markings related to the figures. H 17″, W 7.75″, D 4″. Please see photos for condition.
