Description

The Bing Pigmyphone is a collectible vintage toy gramophone produced in Germany by the Bing Brothers (Gebrüder Bing) from roughly 1920 to 1933. Despite its name containing a miniature, tin-lithographed record player designed for children. The entire mechanism, including the turntable and sound box, is designed to pack away into its own square tin-litho case, making it self-contained and portable using a clockwork device powered by a wind-up spring motor. In overall good condition, the tin case shows discoloration and stains which may or may not clean up. The mechanism is complete and working with the original winding key, and comes with a small envelope of needles for the sound box, and 2 childrens records. Please note that the original records were only 5″ in diameter and the 2 records that come with it are 7″ diameter and although they will play on this machine, the spring is not big enough to play them all the way through. Do not overwind the mechanism. Measures 6″ X 6″ X 3.25″ packed up.
