Description

This lot comprises the essential internal mechanical assembly from a late-model Mutoscope amusement machine, accompanied by its original 1968 Chicago Amusement Machine tax plate. The robust, cast-iron framework—stamped with part identifiers “LOL S 103” and “COL B”—forms the core of the drive system, featuring the primary gear, tension springs, and internal linkages necessary to rotate the iconic image reel. It also includes the integrated porcelain light socket and electrical components required for illumination, along with a bagged set of original mounting hardware. The tax plate, signed by Mayor Richard J. Daley, provides definitive historical provenance for the unit’s era of operation. The metal components exhibit an authentic, aged industrial patina with surface oxidation commensurate with age. The tax plate shows expected paint loss and wear from years of field use, while the mechanism itself remains structurally sound and complete. H 14″, W 14″, D 7”. Please see photos for condition.
