Description
This elegant Victorian-style mirror plateau or cake stand features a circular beveled glass top set within a highly ornate, cast metal frame. The frame is decorated with a continuous band of scrolling acanthus leaves and prominent blooming floral motifs that serve as the feet, elevating the piece with a classic, romantic aesthetic. The metal appears to be a silver-plated base metal, showing a wonderful aged patina that collectors often look for in tabletop service pieces. The underside shows a rustic, oxidized metal backing consistent with late 19th to early 20th-century construction. The condition is fair to good; the glass surface shows significant scratching and scuffing from years of use, and there is some visible wear to the silver plating on the high points of the floral casting and edges.
