Description
This collection features four mid-19th century lithographs by the legendary French caricaturist Honoré Daumier, known for his biting social and political satire. These pieces come from famous series such as “Actualités,” “Les Baigneurs,” and “Stances morales,” and bear the characteristic “h.D.” stone-signed initials. Produced in Paris and published in journals like Le Charivari, these works exemplify the French Realist style, utilizing expressive line work to lampoon the bourgeoisie and political figures of the era. Each print is housed in a classic black frame with paper backing. The lithographs shows expected age-related toning (foxing) and some minor rippling. The frames show light scuffing and edge wear consistent with age, but the glass remains intact. The paper back is torn on some of the frames. Please see photos for overall condition.
