Coin Op & Advertising - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 3
Lot 2144:
Description
Well-used vintage Western stock saddle, likely dating to the early to mid-20th century. The high cantle and swell fork suggest a saddle built for rough work, possibly a modified association or a ranch saddle design, offering good security for the rider. The leather is heavily tooled, featuring distinctive geometric and repeating star-dot patterns, and the jockeys are secured with decorative brass or copper conchos that show a starburst or sunburst design, characteristic of period Western tack. Included is the full rigging, including the stirrup leathers and fenders. The saddle exhibits heavy wear consistent with age and use; the leather is dry, cracked, and significantly darkened with dirt and patina, particularly on the seat and fenders. The padding/lining underneath the skirts is severely deteriorated, exposing the underlying saddle tree in some areas. The leather cinch straps visible around the conchos are frayed and broken, and the seat’s stitching appears loose or broken in places. The overall structure appears mostly intact, but the padding and soft elements require complete restoration.
