Description
The toasted sandwich machine was invented about 1920 by Charles V. Champion of Catlin, Illinois. These cabinets were sold to drug stores and soda fountains to expand their offerings. It is a tall oak cabinet with glass sides holding a small electric grill and warming plate. A hanging glass shelf holds bread. On the operators side of the cabinet are 2 porcelain turn switches that controls the lights and the grill. One switch is broken. There are 4 four drawers for storage, a pull out wood cutting board, and storage below having 2 sliding doors which are missing. There was likely a glass panel for the back which was held in place by 4 latches, 2 missing. The inside of the cabinet has 3 porcelain lamp sockets with a light fixture and 2 metal vent caps on the cabinet top. All the electric is untested. The cabinet wheels are replacements. Overall measures 57″ tall, 36″ wide, 19.5″ deep
